What will you be doing this Saturday during the Iowa Hawkeye Football game? Your answer should be attending the Toyz 4 Kids Chili Cook-off at Jody’s in downtown Muscatine. This fantastic annual event allows you to sample a bunch of delicious chili, all while raising money for an excellent cause.

Viola Werner and her wonderful group of friends will take all the money raised on Saturday and purchase bicycles for children in Muscatine. The bicycles are then delivered during our Toy Time event, which will take place this December in the Krieger parking lot. The goal during the week of Toy Time (December 4 through 8) is to fill the TanTara Transportation Hawkeye Hauler truck with toy donations to bring to the Salvation Army of Muscatine.

This might be the first you’re hearing of the good work performed by Viola and her group, and that’s fine. I encourage you to show up on Saturday (bring a pot of chili if you like) and have fun while helping out at the same time.

This is the first year that my schedule will allow me to stop down, which is good because I LOVE chili…and Hawkeye football, but mainly chili! One last thing, will someone please bring some me a package of Tums? Because Lord knows, after all the chili I’ll be sampling, I’ll need a handful!

Hope to see you this Saturday at the annual Toyz 4 Kids Chili Cook-off at Jody’s, 226 Walnut Street in downtown Muscatine. If you need more information or would like to contribute to the cause, feel free to call Viola at (563) 554-0967.
