Maryann Hines, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Lutheran Living Senior Campus.

Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. The Funeral Service will be take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the funeral home. Casket bearers will be her grandsons. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will follow the committal service at Gannon Hall, 215 West Eighth Street, Muscatine. Maryann was born on December 30, 1932, in Muscatine, the daughter of Perry and Clara Sharrar Huff. She married Carl E. Hines on June 13, 1952, in Augusta, Georgia.

She worked for JC Penney retiring in 1996. She was a lifelong member of the St. Mary Church, and a member of the Bells of St. Mary’s, Catholic Daughters of the Americas – Joan of Arc Court #524, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Carl E. Hines of Muscatine; one son, Richard ‘Rick’ Eugene Hines and wife, Beverly; three daughters, Sheila Ann Howell and husband, Steve, Denise Marie Gaeta and husband, Michael, and Julia Joan Strause and husband, Larry ‘Levi’; 10 grandchildren, Richard Hines and wife, Lynn, Perry Hines and wife, Maggie, Amber Wittmer and husband, Rob, Matthew Howell, Melissa Wilson and husband, Justin, Jeremy Gaeta and wife, Heidi, Joshua Gaeta and wife, Danielle, Emily Gaeta, Stephanie Spencer and husband, Jesse, and Brandon Stause; 23 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hadley Hines, Kennedy, Lily, and Carl Hines, Harper and Jude Wittmer, Kevin, Olivia, Maisy, and Elise Howell, Tyler, Gage, Emma, Chloe, Jakob, and Mackenzie Wilson, Rome and Isabella Gaeta, Joshua James and Bristol Gaeta, Zoey Spencer, and Zelda Stause; and a sister-in-law, Francis Huff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, Chad and Kevin Hartman, and Brian Gaeta; and siblings, Adeline Coppens, Virginia Woodworth, Irene Murphy, Veronica Bract, Teresa McCrea, James Huff, Florence Huff, Antionette Rieke, Louis J. Huff, and Frank Anthony Huff.
