James Robert Donaldson, of Saint Paul, MN, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Funeral services for Jim will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Providence Baptist Church in rural Illinois City. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30-2:00pm. Dr. Joel Lawrence will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Drury-Reynolds Cemetery with military rites provided by the combined units of the American Legion Post #27 and V.F. W. Post 1565. Pallbearers will be Thomas A. Watson, Mark Clark, Corey Bull, Jay Edwards, Doug Carlson and Thomas Hagman. Following the committal service at the cemetery, refreshments will be served at the church. Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine IA, is handling the arrangements. James Robert Donaldson was born in Rochester NY, on September 5, 1941. He was the oldest child of Thomas Robert and Frances O’Neill Donaldson. He served in the US Navy, where he began his lifelong career in computer programming, marketing, training and consulting. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1973.

Jim was married to Mary K. Watson, formerly of rural Illinois City, on February 6, 1982. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Saint Paul, along with three children, six grandchildren and three siblings. Local survivors include Janet and Mark Clark, Kari and Marci, of Muscatine; Thomas A. and Katie Watson, Mitchell, Logan and Ciara, of rural Illinois City; Claude Gifford of Muscatine, and the Jane Watson Yin family of Zhengding, China.
