Ivan “Ike” Leroy Cochran, 84, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his home after a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center, located within Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Inurnment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park with military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W. Post 1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Visitation will be on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Shriner’s Children Hospital or Mulford Church in Ivan’s name. Ivan Leroy Cochran was born on June 9, 1932 in Nichols, to Lorin Howard and Helen Laverta (Lanfier) Cochran. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Randoll on October 9, 1955 in Muscatine. Ivan proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne overseas in Korea and Japan. He was a Fire Fighter for 29 years and retired as the Fire Marshal. Ivan was a member of the Shriners, VFW and attended Mulford Church. Ivan enjoyed camping, bowling, traveling and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Ivan will be missed by his wife, Marilyn Cochran of Muscatine; four children, Mike Cochran of Cedar Rapids, Tammy (Bob) Robotka of Eagan, MN, Jeff (Karol) Cochran of Muscatine and Beth (Jeff) Wingerter of Muscatine; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother Earl Cochran of Muscatine.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; a grandson; and brother Vernon “Vern” Cochran.
