Harry Dean “Swede” Meyerholz, 88, of Wapello, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Great River Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Wapello Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation for Harry Dean will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Briggs Civic Center in Wapello. A memorial has been established. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services are handling the arrangements. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Harry Dean Meyerholz was born on June 9, 1928, in Wapello, the son of Harry A. and Velma (Courtney) Meyerholz. Harry Dean was a 1946 graduate of Wapello High School and attended Burlington Junior College. He served his country in the United States Army. On October 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Flayharty in Mount Union. Harry Dean retired from Prime Mover in Muscatine with over 30 years service. He was a member of the V.F.W Post 5166 of Wapello. He enjoyed watching all sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Cubs fan.

Harry Dean will be deeply missed by his wife, Beverly of Wapello; children, Debbie (Roger) Huddle of Wapello, Steve (Diane) Meyerholz of Iowa City and Jeff Meyerholz of Muscatine; grandchildren, Whitney (Tony) Hollenbaugh, Mitch (Robyn) Huddle, T.J. (Megan) Meyerholz, Paul (Liz) Huddle, Jill (Travis) Grager, Koert (Erica) Huddle, Jacob (Kirstie Marshall) Meyerholz and Dylan Meyerholz; and great-grandchildren, Cal, Taylor, Josiah, Luke, Pete, Brayden, Brantley, Jacklyn and James.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Anna Lea Cummings and Nellie Marie Stineman.
