David C. Mostaert, 72, of Stockton, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Genesis in Davenport.
Born November 12, 1945, to Joe and Ruth (Schmidt) Mostaert. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1963. He married Sandi Minnaert in 1972. They later divorced but remained friends.
Dave was a hard worker and many times worked two jobs. He worked at Oscar Mayer for 33 years retiring in 1999. He worked with his brother Gregg for Plowboys Landscaping, sold seed corn and worked at Walcott Farm Service. His last job was at St. Ambrose with his best friend, Leon Woods.
Dave never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He liked playing cards, watching westerns and reading. Most of all, he loved being with his grandson, Silas – his little buddy. Dave always had “Silas” stories and he laughed every time he told them. He was a kind man with the best sense of humor and a terrific love for his family!
According to Dave’s wishes he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on March 31, 2018 from 4-10 PM at the Walcott American Legion Hall.
Dave is survived by his two sons: Eric and Rodney (Christine) Mostaert both of Walcott, his grandsons: Silas and Josh, his brother Gregg (Cathy (his angel as he called her!)) Mostaert of Long Grove, his sister Linda Carlson of East Moline, IL, his two nieces: Kylie Kuffler and Anna Mostaert, his nephew Joe Mostaert and his phone buddy Aunt Betty Beaudry of Lost Nation. Dave was also blessed with cousins and friends whom he loved.
Memorials may be made to the family or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his memory.
