Darlene L. Oeter, 88, of Muscatine, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at Lutheran Living.
Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Private burial will be in the Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium. Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church in her name. The Ralph J. Darlene was born on July 28, 1928, in Des Moines, the daughter of Walter Welch and Sylvia Irene Reeves Whitmer. She married William O. Oeter March 30, 1951, in Muscatine.
Darlene was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She taught Sunday school for many years. Her Christian faith was an important part of her life. She was a Muscatine High School graduate, class of 1946.
She was a member of Artists in Action. She loved to sew and quilt. In her early years, she owned a small business called the Fantasy Patch. They spent many vacations traveling around the U.S. and the West Indies. After retiring, they spent the winter months in Florida. She very much enjoyed her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, William; two grandchildren, Darin Oeter and Chelsea Oeter Mathis; three great grandchildren, Hendrix, E.J., and Tristan; one brother-in-law, Donald Oeter of West Chester, Ohio; and one sister, Barbara Prinz of Georgetown, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son William Walter Oeter in 2002.
