Kevin Jenison, Communications Manager, City of Muscatine

The Muscatine City Council approved the resolution to change the parking time limit and the re-parking restriction on 2nd Street on October 19, 2017. The new parking provisions were to be effective at the time the necessary signage was installed.

The new signs were installed on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

The goal of this change is for vehicles on 2nd Street to turn over more frequently to free up parking spaces for others, yet still allow adequate time to shop or enjoy one of the local restaurants.

The new parking provisions are: free parking up to 2 hours once per day in each block.

This replaces the previous restriction which allowed for up to 3 hours once per day in each space.

The City’s meter attendants will begin monitoring the 2nd Street parking spaces for the new time limit and re-parking restriction on Monday, November 6.  For the first week (November 6 – 10), warnings will be given to violators of the new parking ordinance. Beginning Monday, November 13, the meter attendants will begin issuing tickets to violators.
