The Muscatine High School football team will be hosting their annual Lift-A-Thon fundraiser on July 30th. The event will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the MHS Field Turf and Weight Room.
Parents and members of the community are invited to come watch the players perform drills.
Head football coach Jacob Mueller is hoping the team gets plenty of sponsors for the fundraiser.
“The players write letters to potential sponsors that they know”, said Mueller. “It can be family, friends, or anyone they know, asking them to sponsor in our Lift-A-Thon.
The funds that are earned will go towards equipment, camps, and individual gear that players can get from sponsors.
If anyone is interested in sponsoring a player, you can make a pledge for the amount of the numbers they workout, or a flat-fee donation which can be brought on the day of the Lift-A-Thon. If the donation is in by July 15th, the players will get their prizes before the season starts.
The football program does more fundraisers, but the Lift-A-Thon is one of the biggest.
“Each year we tweak it to make it better. The players will participate whether they receive a sponsorship or not”, said Mueller.
The Lift-A-Thon will give players a chance to show off the work they’ve been putting in over the summer as they prepare for the season. They will do drills which include the 40-yard dash and the vertical jump. It will also include workouts that players did in the offseason, which include the bench press and squats.
