During Harris’s freshman year of high school, she participated on the Code of Conducts team serving as the treasurer. This sparked Harris’s interest to pursue a leadership role in her junior and senior year to become one of the treasurers for her local FFA chapter. Harris’s junior year she was elected one of two youth treasurers for the Muscatine Ag Learning Center (MALC). Harris joined the heifer project and has shown heifers at the Muscatine County Fair. During Harris’s junior year she participated on the floral team. The floral team Harris was on placed first at state, and she placed sixth individually. Through this experience she discovered that FFA is more than livestock and crops; it involves communication skills, hard work, and dedication.
