The Annual Dessert Concert at Muscatine High School is a chance for students to showcase their musical talents to their peers, family, and friends. This concert is different from their curricular concerts because the students audition and perform individually or in small groups.
“The Dessert Concert features pop and Broadway music, variety acts, and extracurricular groups such as jazz choir, show choirs, and their barbershop group, Solid Harmony. Following the concert, dessert will be served to our audience in the auditorium foyer,” said Associate Director of Choral Activities, Teale Burford.
Tickets to the concert are $4 for adults and students K-12. Burford said, “This concert is a fundraiser for our Vocal Music Boosters, who fund everything from show choir expenses to students attending All-State camps to clinics for our curricular choirs.” At the concert, there will also be a chance to make freewill donations to further support the Boosters.
“We’d really like the community to come support our kids and the Boosters and see what we do here in the Choral Department aside from our curricular concerts,” said Burford.
The Annual Dessert Concert will be held February 2 at 7 p.m. in the Muscatine High School Auditorium. Members of the community are welcome to attend. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
