On April 9, 2018, at approximately 6:28 p.m., a Louisa County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a black chevy impala for an illegal pass while driving north on highway 61 in Wapello. The vehicle refused to pull over and continued north at speeds over one hundred miles per hour. The pursuit continued into Muscatine County and south onto highway 99 at speeds greater than one hundred miles per hour. A Des Moines County Deputy deployed tire deflation sticks near the intersection of SE Walker Road and Highway 99. While attempting to avoid the tire deflation sticks, the vehicle came to a stop at approximately 7:08 p.m. The driver, 30-year-old Ashley Roebuck from Davenport, was taken into custody. A passenger, Jason Ringold, 19, also of Davenport, was also taken into custody. Further investigation showed that Roebuck and Ringold were both suspects from a theft at a business in Burlington that occurred earlier that day. Over $500 worth of stolen property was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. Ringold was turned over to the Burlington Police Department and Roebuck was transported back to Louisa County Jail for aggravated eluding as well as multiple traffic citations. There were no injuries reported and the only damage occurred to the suspect vehicle. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Burlington Police Department.
