Friends, I have bad news: I’m not a good singer. Over the course of my 32 years on this earth, I’ve attempted to sing, but I’m afraid I just cannot carry a tune. If you find yourself like me, you should get signed up for the Lip Sync Battle taking place on Thursday, June 9 from 8 p.m. till midnight outside the Missipi Brew. The Muscatine Community YMCA decided to put together one epic night of lip syncing, all while supporting their Youth and Teen Center Expansion. My role will be as your host/DJ for the evening, but I’m going to have to get in on the fun! The concept is simple: grab a few friends, pick out a song you know the words to, and hit the stage to see if you have what it takes to win the battle! Lip sync battles have been in the spotlight recently with the Spike TV series, along with “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” All of a sudden it is cool to become Milli Vanilli; plus, you get to help out a good cause, and that’s what really matters. Sign up by stopping by the Muscatine Community YMCA and filling out the registration form. Cost is $10 and you have to get registered by June 6. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place and the evening will feature raffles and a silent auction. The Missipi Brew will donate 20% of all food and drink sales from the evening to the cause. I know this is going to be a blast, and I really encourage all of you reading to form a team and get signed up. Or, at the very least, come out and watch the Lip Sync Battle! What else are you going to be doing on a Thursday night? Join yours truly along with the Muscatine Community YMCA at the Missipi Brew for the Lip Sync Battle. I’m dropping the mic!
