Kolors 4 Kids
By Joel Kraushaar
For the past ten years, Melissa and Chris Anderson have relied on the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for their family’s care. The Andersons’ son Connor died in infancy, and their daughter Ainsley needs regular care and attention from UIHC facilities. Because of the kindness and care they have received, along with many families in Muscatine and the areas surrounding UIHC, the couple has taken great strides to fundraise and give back. Melissa, who works in accounting at Stanley Consultants, and Chris, who owns My Neighborhood Marketing, are organizing the third annual Kolors 4 Kids color run.
This will be a 5K color run that takes place along the riverfront and through downtown, as well as a one and a half-mile Kolor Walk. There is also a Kiddie Dash for kids to participate in. Throughout the run, participants are blasted with colored powder. There will be bounce houses and other fun activities for the family. “We had over 350 participants last year,” said Chris. “Our goal was to raise $25,000 in five years. This is year three, and we are on pace to meet and exceed our goal.”
Participants can register at www.kolors4kids.com. A registration fee of $45.00 includes a “swag bag”, T-shirt, sunglasses, waterless tattoo, and a Kolor Bomb. The 5K begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Pearl City Station on Saturday, July 9. The 1.5 mile walk begins at 11:00 and the Kiddie Dash launches at 11:45.
