The holiday season is all about giving back, and what better way to give back than to donate to those in need?
Muscatine High School’s Key Club just finished hosting their annual coat drive. The fundraiser was held from December 4 through the 14. This was a chance for students to bring gently used coats of all sizes into the library. In exchange for the donation, students are allowed to leave campus for lunch for one day.
The coats will first go to Muskie Lockers, which will allow students of all grade levels who need clothes, food, or a coat to take it for free, no questions asked. Coats will also be donated to MCSA where community members can take advantage of the help.
This is Key Club’s first time putting on the annual coat drive, as it has always been a project of the student council.
“This was an opportunity for student council to focus on other projects, while giving Key Club the opportunity to get involved in a community project,” says Key Club president Saul Ocampo.
Muscatine High School is always looking for new ways to give back to the community and help those in need. Coats are essential this time of year. If you have any old coats you’d like to donate, you can find donation boxes around town.
