Businesses across the state of Iowa are struggling to find skilled workers to fill job vacancies within their organizations. IowaWorks is addressing the skilled workforce challenge facing our communities. IowaWorks, through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), is providing job seekers with funding to complete career and technical education training programs.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funding is helping eligible youth and adults in our community access financial assistance for occupational reskilling, certification, and degree completion. IowaWorks is actively matching eligible job seekers with education and training funds, job search assistance, registered apprenticeships, and work experiences that will prepare them with the skills required to compete for jobs in our region.

Our participants are completing education programs in communities all over the state of Iowa and they are looking for jobs. We welcome conversations with employers so that we can communicate their workforce demands to our program participants and point them toward great employment opportunities. WIOA funding can also help businesses pay to up-skill their entry-level employees into jobs requiring more specialized training.

IowaWorks, along with our core partner agencies, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation, Iowa Department for the Blind, and Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, are committed to meeting the needs of our 21st century skilled workforce. We are providing real solutions to closing the skills gap and preparing our workforce for the future.

If you know someone who is out of high school, under 24 years old, and has faced barriers to education and training, our program can help. If you know an adult who has lost their job through no fault of their own, or is facing the challenges of under-employment or unemployment, please refer them to our program. The first step is to contact IowaWorks at 902 W. Kimberly Rd., Ste. 51, in Davenport, Iowa. Please follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/IowaWorks9.
