A free floral design class will be held in Muscatine very soon.
The class will focus on fair flower designing. Barb Reesink, a floral superintendent for the Muscatine County Fair, stated that it will be an interactive demonstration to show people how to design their flowers.
“This is where you’ll learn how to design an arrangement and then actually have to set it up,” Reesink said.
The free event is open to the public and people of all ages. It will take place April 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Muscatine County Extension Office. Light refreshments will be served.
Reesink has been a floral superintendent for 23 years and also competes at the fair. She said that the event will use silk flowers rather than real ones, due to the lack of fresh flowers at this time of year.
“We’re going to have a table setting so they can see how to put a table setting together, how to do a mantel, and our niches are like little boxes that we have at the county fair, and sometimes we like to put backdrops with fabric or paper or things like that. So we’ll be showing those at the class also,” Reesink explained.
Reservations are not required but are preferred. To call in a reservation for this event on April 9, feel free to call Barb Reesink at (563) 264-5620, Karen Britcher at (563) 260-3482, or Susan Johnson at (563) 299-5058.
