Every year at the Muscatine County Fair, one young lady is chosen as the Muscatine County Fair Queen. As queen, she is responsible for handing out ribbons at the livestock shows, socializing with the families that attended the fair, and meeting with the fair board.

Current Muscatine County Fair Queen Morgan Nichols said in her farewell letter, “Being queen comes with countless opportunities, such as being able to meet the entertainment for the night, talking on the radio, and being able to congratulate all the grand champions at the livestock shows.”

The queen also represents Muscatine County at the Iowa State Fair Queen Pageant during Queen’s Week. Nichols said, “Throughout the week, I met 102 Queens from around our great state of Iowa, [and] got to know some of our Iowa State Fair Board members, talk with past Iowa State Fair [participants] … and participate in service projects on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. At the end of the week, all 102 Queens were exhausted, but I made lifelong friends.”
