Eliza Save the Center fundraiser
The Eliza Community Center in Eliza, Illinois, is in need of repair. The roof is leaking and has to be replaced immediately, and the community is working together to host a fund raiser they hope will raise enough money to make that happen.
The day’s festivities will start with a pancake breakfast served from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. by the Eliza Lions Club and the Eliza Community Church Ladies’ Aid. Hog donation is provided by Brown’s Forrest Home Farm and processing is donated by Reason’s Locker Service in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois.
The Car & Tractor Show will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite cars and tractors, and prizes will be awarded to the best! To register your vehicle or for more information about this event, contact Chris Bieri at (309) 537-3376.
Lunch concessions will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be available until 6:00 p.m. Butterfly pork chops, walking tacos, and hot dogs will be the featured menu items, and will be served by the Joy / Eliza 4-H Club.
The fundraiser will also feature a Bags Tournament. Sign-ups will begin at noon, and games will start at 1:00 p.m. The entry fee is $50 per twosome in this double elimination tourney, with cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100 for the top three teams (with a full 32-team field). Bags and boards will be provided. We’ll also feature a “Go Long for Cash” game on the side, where individual players can win cash prizes two ways! For team pre-registration or questions about this event, contact Bryan Nash at (563) 506-5393.
At 1:00 p.m. there will be a Cake and Baked Goods Auction. Legendary and infamously decadent local desserts will be auctioned to the highest bidders in the Community Center gymnasium. For more information about this event, contact Vicki Boruff at (309) 537-3430.
A live auction of donated items will start immediately following the Cake and Baked Goods Auction. For donation information or other questions about this event, contact Chris Bieri at (309) 537-3376.
The Dunk Tank will be open all day (weather permitting), and will feature a few notorious Mercer County locals who need to get wet! If you know someone who needs a good swim, or for other information about this event, contact Chris Bieri at (309) 537-3376.
The Team Trivia Night will cap off the day’s events and will start at 6:00 p.m. Space is limited, so please call ahead to reserve your table. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams. To reserve your table or for questions about this event, contact Bryan Nash at (563) 506-5393.
In addition to all of these scheduled events, there will be a Kids’ Fun Zone featuring a bounce house and face painting; two gun raffles (rifle and shotgun, drawing at 6:00 p.m.); basket raffles; a silent auction; music, and much more!
