Early learning professionals professional development day June 11
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Muscatine County is offering a Professional Development Day for Early Learning Professionals on June 11 from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Muscatine County Extension office. This free event is sponsored by Muscatine CountyDeCAT.
Three workshops will be presented by Human Science Specialists Phyllis Zalenski, Vera Stokes, and Barbara Dunn Swanson. Participants may receive up to six hours of DHS licensing credits by attending one, two, or all of the workshops offered:
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Move for Thought
Demonstrate the Move for Thought Pre-K kit, which includes physical activities in integration with pre-academic concepts, self-regulation skills, books, and music during typical routines in Early Childhood classrooms (including transitions, large and small groups, and outside play).

10:45 a.m. – 12:45 a.m. Cent$ible: Getting What You Want
Would you like to have more money to do what you need to do and get the things you want? When you have a plan, you’ll worry less about money, focus on your career, and be better prepared when life happens. Learn about goals, planning your spending, and ways to save.

1:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Learning Self Control
What is self-control? How does self-control help active and not-so-active children? Participants will learn the developmental progression for helping young children learn self-control skills. Participants will also discuss ways to adapt their programs to help children build self-control.
