Muscatine native David Stanley passed away Wednesday at the age of 86, less than a month after his wife Jeanie passed away August 4. Stanley served as chairman of Iowans for Tax Relief and was influential in Iowa Republican politics for decades. He was elected to the Iowa House in 1958 and served 12 years in the state legislature as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and as Senate Majority Leader. Stanley’s father Max, founded two of Muscatine’s largest companies, Stanley Consultants and the HON Company. Services for David Stanley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Wesley United Methodist Church.
