The United Way of Muscatine is holding a community-wide baby shower for the entire month of April.

According to Shane Orr, United Way of Muscatine Executive Director, this is the third year for the event.  Items that are collected through the drive are divided between several area organizations to be distributed as needed throughout the year.

Any monetary donations that are received are used to purchase items that there is a need for, such as car seats, Orr says.

Items donated will benefit clients of LSI HOPES Program, Muscatine Center for Social Action families, Muscatine Community YMCA Family Services, Muscatine County Food Pantry, and Trinity Muscatine Public Health. United Way is accepting donations of lightweight baby blankets, diapers, baby wash, baby shampoo, baby oil, baby lotion, infant Tylenol, Pedialyte, baby thermometers, baby wipes, onesies in assorted sizes, formula, bottles, and car seats for infants and toddlers.

Items can be delivered to United Way’s baby shower to be held on Friday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pearl Plaza at 215 West Mississippi Drive.  Residents who are unable to attend the shower on April 29 can drop off items at the United Way office at 208 W 2nd St., Suite 201, through May 4.
