Muscatine High School juniors and seniors spend weeks preparing for prom: dress shopping, tuxedo fittings, limousine rentals, and dinner reservations. April 22 is prom night, followed by Carnival After Prom Extravaganza, affectionately known as CAPE.
CAPE was created in Muscatine to provide a safe place for students to continue the festivities of the evening after prom is over. The event is free to students. Activities will be set up throughout the high school gym and cafeteria area. There will be food and beverages for the students, as well as lots of prizes given away at the end of the evening.
The prizes are all donated from the community at large and include a Lenovo Laptop Computer, Visio 32″ HD LED TV, Bose Soundlink Bluetooth Speaker, Challenger Inflatable2 person Kayak, DB Power 6 Axis Drone, Beats ep Headphones, Google Home voice-activated speaker, Garmin VivoSmart HR Watch, Performance Sport Package, teeth whitening package, rotating pizza maker, Keurig coffee maker, Instax mini camera, Amazon Fire Stick Home Entertainment Package, Virtual Reality Headset by HomiDo, TravelPro luggage set, Travel Fishing Package, Moultrie Trail Cam, ENO Hammock, Magic Bullet NutriBullet Blender, and more.
The committee is in search of volunteers for the event. Becky Wichers is the contact for CAPE volunteers. If you would like to donate a prize, Ginger Chatfield is coordinating prize donations.
