Saturday, March 25 was the annual fundraiser, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine. Over 300 people gathered at the Rose Bowl in support. Along with corporate supporters, the event raised over $65,000.

Bowling took place on Saturday but fundraising kicked off on February 1. Individuals from the community gathered teams of friends, family, and co-workers and rallied up donations. Each individual is encouraged to set their own fundraising goal while sharing the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Funds raised will support local matches as well as start new matches this year.

The event served as a thank you to those who fundraised. Brian Linderman has emceed for six years and was back again this year to share information about the program and keep the atmosphere fun. Along with Glo-N-Bowl, there was a silent auction, door prizes, and a raffle. Several area businesses made donations for these portions of the event.

While the event has passed, Big Brothers Big Sisters still needs more funds to reach their fundraising goal. Donations are still being accepted at www.muscatinebfks.org, or you can call the YMCA at (563) 263-9996.
