One person pulled from river in rescue operation

UPDATE On Monday, February 5, 2018, at 1626 hrs, emergency personnel responded to a report of a person who jumped off the Hwy 92 bridge that spans over the Mississippi River. Upon arrival emergency personnel found a 56 yr. old Muscatine female already in the water. Rescue personnel conducted a water rescue and brought the female to shore where she was transported to Trinity Muscatine. She was later pronounced dead by medical personnel at Trinity. Structure Fire, 1224 Grand Avenue, January 28, 2018

Muscatine Fire Department – 21:10 At approximately 18:40 on January 28, 2018 the Muscatine Joint Communications Center (MUSCOM) received a 911 call of a residence on fire at 1224 Grand Avenue. Upon arrival fire crews found a heavy flames coming from the southeast room of the building. Crews initiated a fire attack and ‘knocked down’ the main body of fire within a few minutes. The fire had already destroyed most of the interior of the southeast room and had spread smoke throughout the residence. Parks and Recreation invites community to family fun at Municipal Golf Course MUSCATINE, Iowa – With a forecast of sunny skies and a high temperature around 47 degrees, snow may be the only thing missing from the fun planned by the City of Muscatine Department of Parks and Recreation this Saturday. The 2018 Winter Festival will go on, with just a few changes, and there will still be lots of fun for the entire family. The event will be held from 1-4 p.m. this Saturday (Jan. 27, 2018)  at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course, 1820 Hwy 38 N, Muscatine, IA. The Snow Pile Treasure Hunt at 1 p.m. for Preschool through 5th graders is the first event on the schedule with children searching for hidden golf balls that can be redeemed for prizes outside the Club House. The biggest change comes at 2:00 p.m. A Snow Sculpture contest was planned but Mother Nature had other ideas for the weather at the end of January.  Instead of a Snow Sculpture contest, Parks and Recreation will sponsor a Winter-themed Poster Contest. All ages and groups are welcome to participate with tables set up and a variety of colors available for the artists in all of us.
