Head Start is a no-cost, high-quality preschool program for children three to five years old. Provided are many different curriculums that range from math to science to social and emotional wellness as well as breakfast and lunch and all the supplies a child might need for the classroom. We offer six-hour programs or all-day programs for parents or guardians who work or go to school.
There are Head Start programs in Scott, Clinton, Cedar, and Muscatine counties. We do not provide transportation, but many of the programs are at or near city bus stops.
Early Head Start is a six-hour program that is a no-cost, high-quality program for pregnant moms and birth to three years old. Provided are many different curriculums that range from math to science to social and emotional wellness as well as breakfast and lunch and all the supplies a child might need for the classroom.
Early Head Start also offers a home-based program where the teacher will come to you for 90 minutes a week and work with you and the child on a one-on-one basis.
Home-Based Early Head Start is offered in Scott, Clinton, Cedar, and Muscatine counties.
To apply for any of these programs, you will need to fill out an application and bring with you proof of income for 12 months. This can be your 2016 tax forms or 2016 W-2s as well as documentation of child support, FIP, SSI, and school grants or scholarships if you received them. Copies of birth certificates or insurance cards would help the process.
