A ground-breaking ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Muscatine YMCA located at 1823 Logan Street. The seven-million-dollar project will include two new additions which total 25,000 square feet and renovation to existing exercise space.

The addition to the northwest corner of the facility will include a new entrance, a kids’ adventure center, a teen center, new conference rooms, and new offices for the YMCA staff. The facility will now have only one entrance facing Logan Street.

The addition to the back of the facility will include a new competition basketball court, a large group exercise room, and a new flat running track.

The 10,000 square feet of existing space will be renovated into a new fitness area which will include weights, cardio equipment, a spinning studio, and a new family locker room.

The Muscatine YMCA currently has over 9,700 members and this project will provide new amenities, programs, and services to the community.

The project has received extensive financial support from the community, including two million dollars from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust, one million from HNI, and one million from Kent Corporation.

Estes Construction from Davenport, IA, is the construction manager and CMBA from Des Moines, IA, is the project architect.
