You know them from the football games, basketball games, and the pep rallies: the Mighty Muskie Band. Marching season is over for the Muskies, and they are now transitioning into concert band. The band also is getting ready for competitive jazz season and pep band for the basketball games. All the great activities the band is involved in, though, come at a great cost. Music, instruments, music stands, and other equipment for the band is very expensive. To help with the expenses, the band sells Koeze Nuts every year.
The Koeze Nut fundraiser began in October and ends in December. They offer multiple nut products, including malted milk balls, chocolate pecan turtles, and of course the classics such as cashews, pecans, and pistachios. These are only a few of the many products they offer.
It is important for the students to sell because it is a great portion of where the band gets their funds. Students also have their own personal account that money gets put into based off of how much money they raise. They can use this money for whatever they need for band.
If you are interested in buying band nuts, you can contact a student, go to the “Nut House” (located at 1600 Plaza Place, Muscatine) on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., or you can contact Tammi Drawbaugh at [email protected].
